Book Review: Disobedient

Disobedient
by Elizabeth Fremantle
Review by Livvy

A fictional retelling of the true story of Artemisia Gentileschi – an exceptional talent who was overlooked and undermined because she was a woman. Fremantle tells this story with heart, ambition, and conviction; always in pursuit of the truth and never shying away from difficult emotions. Her prose is a masterpiece! It is confronting, yet beautifully encapsulates the nuances of womanhood while shedding light on some of the harshest experiences and injustices. I highly recommend!

For fans of Maggie O’Farrell’s Hamnet and The Marriage Portrait.
