Gravity Let Me Go
By Trent Dalton
Review by Dave
You can’t take the story you think you’re reading for granted — it definitely has some twists in store! At times, I wasn’t sure I was enjoying the company of Dalton’s flawed, ambitious, and sometimes unlikeable narrator, but the mysteries and challenges that stacked up for him – some professional and many personal – kept hooking me in. Even at its grittiest, the ribald Aussie humour helps to balance out the darkness of the true-crime subplot. And the main character’s attempt to face some personal demons has some genuinely heart-warming payoffs. The surprise ending definitely rewarded perseverance!
