I’ll admit I was apprehensive to read this, worried that I’d find it too devastating since it is set in Palestine, but it was actually really readable! The narrators are both so self-absorbed that the conflict somewhat recedes to the background, despite it motivating the story. This cleverly meant that the tragedy was digestible rather than overwhelming, making the questions raised more approachable and educational. An excellent choice for anyone who’s interested in learning more about the Palestine conflict, but is wary of internalising too much emotional weight.
