Book Review: Audition

Audition

I don’t know how to find the words to describe this book, but I do know that I want a lot of people to read it. This experimental novel is about re-imagining prisons and justice, told through the story of three giants hurtling through space on the Audition. At turns claustrophobic, deeply unsettling, brutal, deliciously sensory, infuriating, trippy, and hopeful, this story, and the lives of Alba, Stanley, and Drew, will stay with me for a very long time. If you’re able to let yourself be carried by this strange novel, though it may first feel impenetrable, the challenges and rewards it offers are invaluable, moving, and essential.
