‘Tail of the Comet’ chronicles Lee Trusttum’s life with her husband, the prominent Canterbury and New Zealand painter, Philip Trusttum. It also covers in detail Lee’s early life in Governor’s Bay as the daughter of well-known Christchurch figures, author and broadcaster Douglas Cresswell, and notable fabric artist Fanny Buss. Intertwined with these are descriptions of Lee’s struggle with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disorder – an inherited degenerative condition of the limbs, particularly the feet, which progressively impedes mobility.

Later chapters include accounts of living in Sydney in the 1960’s, the South of France inthe 1970’s, and New York in the 80’s. There are also accounts of Lee’s forays into Gestalt Therapy, online counselling, and working with her mother in the fabric printing business.

The impact of the Christchurch earthquakes also receives detailed attention.
