Fighter Command: IWM Photography Collection

IWM holds approximately 11 million photographs in its archives, covering the causes, course and consequences of modern conflict from the First World War to the present day.

This vibrant collection traces the development of Fighter Command from its inception and growth in the 1930s, as war clouds gathered over Europe, to the dawn of the supersonic age in the early years of the Cold War.
