A love of the natural world (Watership Down is a real place in Hampshire) enables Adams the storyteller to deeply inhabit the lives of Fiver, Hazel, Bigwig and the one of the most chilling villains of children’s literature, General Woundwort. His philosophy is that young readers “don’t distinguish between fiction and reality. It’s all reality.”
