I haven’t been so excited while reading a book in a long time. Weir’s enthusiasm for science and using it to solve problems and mysteries is reflected in the main character, and expertly passed on to the reader. Throughout the book I found myself constantly sharing in the thrill of discovery and fascinated by what scientific solutions would be used to overcome the next hurdle. Despite the very high stakes and a plot that could easily have been depressing, Weir has managed to create a story that focuses on the joy of discovery and conveys a feeling of optimistic hope for humanity and the future. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, and I highly recommend it.
