George Bernard Shaw wrote a drama with the same name as a Greek legendary character. In 1913, it was first shown to the public on stage. Pygmalion created sculptures, and in Greek mythology, he fell in love with one of them, causing it to come to life. In addition to being a masterpiece in its own right, George Bernard Shaw’s wildly famous romantic comedy has inspired a number of plays, tales, and movies, including the iconic global adaption My Fair Lady. The drama has seen numerous modifications, with the most well-known being the American musical My Fair Lady, and it still makes audiences cry more than a century after it was first staged.
