Impossible Creatures
by Katherine Rundell
Review by Ray
As a grown-up, I admit I spent the first few chapters of this book thinking ‘maybe I’m a bit old for this…’ but then I decided to lean right in and was utterly transported, surprisingly challenged, and totally charmed by this motley crew of runaway children, a sailor, and a scientist, trying desperately to save the creatures they love and the world they hold dear. The ending was so expansive, hopeful and bittersweet that it had me in tears – this is an adventure-filled, intelligent, creative wonder of a story, perfect for readers both young and old.
