But when they intercept a peculiar radio transmission, they have to investigate. Nothing should work in these impossible conditions, so what is sending the signal . . . and why?

With a degrading ship and crew at breaking point, there’s every chance they will tear themselves apart before they ever find the answer to the ultimate question – are we alone in the universe?

The Flight of the Aphrodite
By S J Morden
Review by Liam

I have never read a novel that combined, with such subtle effect, all the concepts of a great Science Fiction story.
Yes, the characters are archetypal: that’s the point.
Yes, the reveal is ominous: that’s for good reason.
Yes, it’s heartbreaking and confusing: that’s what makes it perfect.
This is a stand-alone piece, with solid world building, complex arcs, and a proper ending. Written in a style reminiscent of 1970s SciFi classics with a strong existential streak, this might well be my favourite SciFi book this year.
A very intellectually engaging science fiction drama, in the same league as Interstellar and The Expanse.
