The Summer Hikaru Died

After he goes missing in the nearby mountains, Hikaru returns as though nothing has happened. But shortly after, an old woman dies and strange things start coming down from the mountain. Only Yoshiki, Hikaru’s best friend, seems to notice that whatever is wearing his best friend’s face is something much more sinister…

Creeping atmosphere, intricately detailed designs and a disconcerting feeling of solitude all come together in this incredible horror manga. The realistic backgrounds and the isolation of a small mountain town lead towards a feeling of Yoshiki being truly alone and trapped with a being who he knows nothing about. The conflicted feelings of our protagonist and the unknown nature of ‘Hikaru’ create a strong sense of unease and suspense as you are left waiting for something to go wrong.

This series is perfect for fans of The Promised Neverland or anything ever written by Junji Ito.
