Welcome to the launch of Dead Ends, an event full of stories, not speeches.
Come in from the cold and sit by the fire awhile as Laura Borrowdale and friends present an evening of domestic dystopias, monster moments and beautiful books to launch her new collection of stories from Tender Press, Dead Ends.
Featuring the vocal talents of Dan Bain and Josiah Morgan, performances from Amy Leigh, Audrey Porne, and the musical skill of Michael Bell.
This is Dead Ends, dystopian storytelling at its finest.
Scorpio books will be selling copies before and after the show.
ABOUT THE BOOK
In the dark, uncanny world of Dead Ends, our ghosts live alongside us, break ups come with a grisly cost, and there really are monsters under the bed. Laura Borrowdale’s sophomore collection is full of the horrors of domestic banality, parenting, relationships, and womanhood. With deft and exacting prose, Borrowdale’s stories reflect our own lives back at us told slant, revealing where something sinister lives just beneath the surface.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Ōtautahi Christchurch writer Laura Borrowdale is the author of a short story collection Sex, with Animals (Dead Bird Books, 2020). Her second collection of short stories, Dead Ends, is due out in 2025 with Tender Press.
