Book Review: Waiting to Be Arrested at Night

Waiting to be Arrested at Night
by Tahir Hamut Izgil
Review by Jack

Extremely intimate and humble, this memoir details the personal experiences of the Uyghur Muslims amidst China’s genocide. It doesn’t attempt to explain the politics or wider effects of the genocide, but through the personal recounts of Izgil’s family and friends, forms a touching and tragic patchwork of loss and endurance against the odds.
