This is the first in a trilogy featuring gun-slinging, foulmouthed Scarlett and her dreamy, mysterious offsider, Albert Browne. Stroud strikes a compelling (and rare) balance between rollicking action and personal quest as his antiheroes’ journey through the wastelands of a pseudo-England, avoiding a zombie hoard called the Tainted and undermining the authority of the sinister Faith Houses. You’ll want to read the next installments in their saga as soon as you’ve finished the first!
