Book Review: Orlando

Orlando
By Virginia Woolf
Review by Claudia

Orlando is a show-stopper! A fictional biography about a young nobleperson who lives for a supernatural amount of time and suddenly changes sex, this novel has been labelled a queer classic for good reason. Woolf’s authorial voice is fun and cheeky. Readers, prepare for the intrusion of the narrator. Knowing exactly why the action is happening in the manner that it is happening is overrated. Just romp on through the ages of England and don’t worry about it. Woolf will entertain, amuse, and at certain points take poetry and poets completely to pieces with her precise wit.

Perfect for fans of her other works, particularly Flush.
