This was an intriguing slow-burn Romantasy between a poisonous alchemist and her reluctant bodyguard. It was an interesting take on enemies to lovers: they have years of uncomfortable wartime history behind them, and it was great watching them slowly work through it. It’s also refreshing to see main characters in their mid to late 30’s, and a warrior MMC who’s sensitive and mature as well as a badass. The plot was engaging, the romance had me super invested, and the world-building was great! I’ll definitely be reading the sequel.
