Magical secret societies are fun, but the driving force of this book is the compelling relationship that takes place between the three rich, intriguing and complicated main characters: uptight magician Rhys, upbeat chaos witch Moira, and Rhy’s ex: powerful and arrogant David, who stumbles back into their life after becoming ill with a magical curse he needs their help to cure. Rhys and David fall back in love with each other and it’s intriguing as hell, but we also get to see a beautiful friendship develop between Rhys and Moira as they fight to figure out not only how to cure David, but how to navigate the new relationship dynamics they’ve fallen into. More gothic paranormal books with polyamory, I say! Excited for book 2.
