Anahera: The Mighty Kiwi Māmā
by Ruth Paul
Review by Renata
Ruth Paul’s latest tells the true tale of Anahera, the kiwi matriarch who turbocharged a visionary conservation project. Told through the eyes of a child whose kuia is a conservationist, this is a warm, funny, and accessible introduction to the work and aroha that goes into protecting taonga species in Aotearoa. Written and illustrated by the multitalented Paul, the story weaves humour, history, conservation education and reo and tikanga Māori to create what is sure to become a picture book classic.
