A Language of Dragons

A Language of Dragons is a gripping fantasy set in a 1920s London where dragons exist alongside class struggles and political unrest. Vivien Featherswallow dreams of a quiet internship studying dragon languages—instead, she finds herself at the heart of a war. To save her family, Viv joins a military decoding team with aims of deciphering dragon languages. What makes this novel shine is Viv herself. She feels like a real teenager—impulsive, uncertain, and struggling with the weight of her decisions. She second-guesses herself, makes mistakes, and learns through trial and error, making her a refreshingly authentic teenage protagonist.
