The fully referenced illustrated essay explores a previously undocumented set of six watercolours by Doris Lusk and the poems, printing, music and performance they inspired between 1966 and 2008.
The watercolours are seen together for the first time since 1966, each faced by the poem they inspired. All but one of the paintings are now held in major public art galleries throughout New Zealand.
Together these creative works represent some of the best-known artists in New Zealand’s recent cultural history, including those in Christchurch’s influential collective, The Group.
